DWS AT 'YOUNG MUSICIANS AT THE WENDT'

For the first time in Sri Lanka, and in collaboration with the Lionel Wendt Memorial Fund (LWMF), Senior dancers of DWS had the opportunity to perform at the 'Young Musicians at the Wendt' live-streamed concert on the 27th of February. The unique performance was on the invitation of the LWMF to excerpts of music by Mozart, Chopin and Gershwin accompanied by renowned pianist Ms Ramya De Lievera Perera.

DANCEWORLD celebrates a milestone of 17 years of achievements in the Performing Arts with its annual showcase JAZZIN' 2022, now a highlight of Colombo’s Performance Calendar. Dancers from a broad range of ages and levels work together to create an experience that has never before been seen in Sri Lanka.
Having had much success at our performance in previous years, “JAZZIN’ 2022” offered a unique opportunity to ALL of our dancers who not only have a high level of talent, but also the passion and commitment with its annual showcase. “JAZZIN” is a highly acclaimed dance extravaganza that takes you on a spiritual journey around the globe with thumping beats and a rhythm that will leave you breathless.

AFFILIATION WITH UNITED NATIONS OF DANCE

In January 2019, DANCEWORLD was invited to be a member of the International Dance Council – “Conseil International de la Danse” (CID), the highest body of Dance founded in 1973 within the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. This affiliation permits DANCEWORLD the possibility to award the International Certification in Dance Studies to our deserving students – a validation of training applicable worldwide.

Our annual musical Showcase, this time themed Dare, Dream, Dance, played to a sellout show at the Lionel Wendt Theatre in Colombo. Featuring an array of dance styles from African Beats to Classical Renaissance, from Urban Hip-Hop to Traditional Sri Lankan it proved to be a captivating and inspirational journey for both our Dancers and our audience who screamed for more at curtain call.

In the spring of 2017 DANCEWORLD Sri Lanka had the honour and distinction of representing our Nation in Los Angeles California at one of the most prestigious Dance Festivals in the Continental United States.Dance Excellence 2017 brought together some of the world’s most creative talents in Hollywood California to work with Dance Studios from across all continents of the globe.

Our studio was also invited to present a unique feature at Disneyland Los Angeles. A first for Sri Lanka.
In addition to the Disney performance, DANCEWORLD also took part in Performance Boards, a series of various categories of Dance from all ages and all types. It was the first time Sri Lanka was invited to such an event and we are pleased to have brought back home a total of 5 Awards for excellence and outstanding performance as a result of our hard work and dedication.

DANCEWORLD was proud to have been the intermission presentation for this prestigious awards ceremony that paid tribute to companies that made a significant impact on the community and country. For this presentation, DANCEWORLD produced a show unlike any other. Combining high-tech visuals and interpretive dance movements, our dancers created a visually stunning shadow dance feature to jaw-dropping effect. As part of DANCEWORLD’S commitment to society and sustainability we were truly inspired by these awards and honored to have been invited to perform for these outstanding companies.
